Oceania Principles

Principles

The basic principles for a temperate climate, in which 95% of the population of Australia lives, are simple:

1. Orientate the home to the north

2. Design the windows correctly

3. Use heavy weight materials internally

4. Ventilate naturally

5. Insulate properly

Hot, humid and colder climates need a slightly different set of priorities. As explained in detail at any of the Climate Sensible Home Courses, conducted by RISE (Research Institute for Sustainable Energy), the concepts are simple but subtle in application.

Contact RISE for the next course date at Home Base Expo.
